Grimy yellow boots, ragged clothes, coloured helmets lying around – a common but often overlooked sight at our HDB void decks. These belong to the marginalised migrant workers in Singapore whom we perpetually don’t bother to notice- we have forgotten them.

Void Deck aims to remind Singaporeans about our migrant workers who not only struggle with harsh working and living conditions but also social exclusion. I hope this work will also inspire Singaporeans to appreciate our migrant workers and see them beyond the boots and helmets.
